What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Cozy bookstore cafe with nice vibe and friendly people. Coffee was delicious. Nice pastries. There are lots of books to browse thru, excellent prices. Some records and cds. It was a nice visit on a rainy afternoon. The first floor is accessible, however, lots of small tables and chairs so getting around requires patience. There are steps leading up to the other spaces, and the garden in the back. Paid street parking."
"I’ve been in this venue a few times before getting the chance to guest host an open mic in the space tonight. Juli, James, and Wilder are a wonderful team of people keeping the love of community and literature going in their beautiful bookstore. They’re celebrating 20 years next October and I’m so excited to join their festivities!"
"We didn't have any beverages on our visit, but hopefully next time. We met James and the British lady (we didn't catch her name) and they were both very lovely. This is the kind of bookstore I wish were local to me. I really wanted to buy this chess for kids book, but, alas, I have nobody to play with me. They have various events, such as poetry readings, so look into that! **The one major downside is that it is NOT wheelchair accessible. (I also understand that in the boroughs it's often difficult to make things accessible because of space, it's still unfortunate because there is a sweet small garden in the back, and an area to play chess inside.... All that being said, it was an absolute delight!"
"Been here few times but its such a relaxing place. Laid back chill music. Menu is good coffee is great. LOTS of books. And for your musical interests, theres plenty of records here."
"It's rare that I find a bookstore/cafe that has more than the basic croissant and muffin fare. This place has real, filling food though. I had the ETG salad with tuna and my friend got hummus with carrots. A+ hummus, and deliciousness all around. The bookstore itself is stocked with a wonderful variety of subjects and genres. It's not the biggest bookstore, but it packs a lot into it's shelves. There are also CDs and LPs for the music lovers (and speaking of music the playlist they had going was great)."
"I want to come back to review this place when I've given it more thought. ETG's as magnificent as they come when it comes to community resources -- nice..."
