What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Very cozy and quaint atmosphere. Staff was great didn't visit the table constantly like other places which was nice. It was a perfect balance at being attentive and just leaving you alone. Food was really good. Had the shrimp and scallop risotto. They had a nice buy a Martini and get an order of fries with an in house made dip which was fantastic. Will definitely visit when in town again."
"Had a great light lunch with a friend on a relaxed Friday. Medjool dates with prosciutto and gorgonzola were delicious! Just the right balance of sweet and salty, and the gorgonzola didn't overpower everything. The Thai coconut steamed mussels were outstanding. Lots of bread to sop up all the delicious broth! I stole one from my friend because it smelled so good! I had a standard glass of white, but the Smoking Jacket cocktail was beautiful and delicious! Our server Michele was attentive, friendly, upbeat, without being hover-y. Excellent vibe, great service, wonderful food and creative cocktails made it a great place to chat and catch up!"
"I’ve lived on park ave for almost 4 years now and always walk by this place but have never gone in! I had some friends visit from out of town for the Rochester Cocktail Festival and we decided to go here last minute for a quick brunch/hangover cure after a long night of events. I was so incredibly pleasantly surprised!! We told the lovely waitress that we were splitting multiple dishes and the kitchen so kindly split each item into 3 and plated it all for us perfectly! Food was SO good and drinks really hit the spot. I was full for the majority of the day after. Inside is gorgeous and I’ll definitely be back to sit at their bar sometime. Only reason I gave a 4/5 is because I think the outdoor seating could use some updating. Hopefully more people give this place a try because I think it’s a hidden gem on park!"
"The Hideaway hosted an event for us in their back room and it an amazing experience. Food and service were far beyond what we expected. We were having a hard time booking a different venue for our event so I reached out to Max just in case it fell through. Max responded to my inquiry right away and set up a call to discuss the plans for our event. He offered to hold the room for a couple days while we made our decision, which was unexpected and very much appreciated. Based on that interaction alone, we canceled on the original venue we had been communicating with for months and went with Max and the Hideaway. I wish I had known they did events earlier. They were amazing! They were flexible on the time, let us arrange the tables in the room as needed, were very personable and somehow knew exactly when to come by to get us more food and drinks. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing experience... I'd rate them higher if I could! If you are looking for an event or party venue in Rochester, look no futher"
"Haven’t been here in years, the remodel is nice, good atmosphere. I agree with others the food is bland, the drinks are sub par and it’s all over priced. We shared: PROSCIUTTO & BURRATA $15 COUNTRY BREAD, TOMATO JAM, EVOO, SEA SALT Being vegetarian we ordered it w/out meat…small slice of really good bread - maybe the prosciutto would have added the flavor, there was NO sea salt. The price is not right-two slices maybe? CLASSIC CAESAR SALAD $13 ROMAINE LETTUCE, GARLIC CROUTONS, PECORINO ROMANO, LEMON GARLIC CAESAR DRESSING Plenty of fresh romaine, bland dressing, very little cheese and small hard croutons that were burnt, tasted no garlic, no lemon. We asked for salt pepper and red pepper flakes, that helped both the salad and the entree. Gnocchi Caprese. $23 Well made sauce thick with pieces of tomato, Gnocchi was a mouthful- could have been smaller - and ridges to hold the sauce , but they were good. However, again, the entire dish was BLAND BLAND BLAND. Wanted to love it. Better with salt, pepper and red pepper flakes - but some fresh basil would have been great oh and some bread to mop up the sauce as they did give plenty of it. I agree also the staff does leave you alone, not once were we asked about our dishes, she seemed offended when we requested the salt and pepper (the table next to requested them as well). Food and four cocktails came to $126 after taxes and CC fees. Would love to give it another shot if I heard they found the spice rack and herb garden."
"Stopped in at the Hideaway for a late week lunch with a friend. Only one word to summarize this place - Horrendous. The fish and chips ($11.99) had that..."
