"We wanted to try a new place and saw the reviews of Tapas 177 were very positive. We called on the way and reserved a table. We grabbed some on-street parking but found out there is a lot behind the building, which is great. We were met by the same person who handled the call--he was really friendly. We were led downstairs to a table for 2 and started ordering. We had a drink each (the Pisco Sour was the best) and ordered the fresh spring rolls, veggie pizza, chips with salsa and guacamole. The chips (and the rest) were amazing. We also ordered the fried banana cheesecake (pictured) for dessert. It was delicious. I would go there just to order that dessert! Our bill was just shy of $100 and it felt like a good value for the amazing food and drinks!"

"Better than average cocktails—tried two and thoroughly enjoyed both. The bartenders clearly know what they’re doing. I visited with a large group and we just ordered a bunch of tapas to share. The food menu is diverse and thoughtful, with great options for folks with specific dietary needs. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for good drinks and inclusive dining. I also liked the Spanish theme throughout the dining area."

"One of the few restaurants in downtown Rochester that opens until late even on weeknights (10:45pm last kitchen order, dining room closes at midnight, bar closes at 2:00am), Tapas 177 is definitely a must for Spanish (not Mexican) tapas (small plates). Upon entering from street level is the main bar area. Walk down the stairway (stairs are steep so watch your step) to the spacious yet intimate dining area. There's also outdoor seating during warmer months. The Spanish style interior is a pleasant escape from the gray dullness of Rochester. The vibe is perfect for first dates, intimate & group dining and the dim lighting sets the perfect mood for a culinary delight. I reserved a table for 10 for an after recital get together. Only a 6 minute drive from Eastman School of Music. The tapas menu has something for everyone including non-Spanish dishes like Korean bulgogi, Indian naan shrimp pizza, etc., but I didn't expect literally everything to be good. The highlights were the empanadas, P.E.I. mussels & the oh so yummy arancini. The fried brussel sprouts were crisp but not oily & were accompanied by a delicious creamy sauce. Quality ingredients & well designed ensembles. The cocktail menu offers a diverse selection & the Spanish glass of red wine was extra dry & absolutely delectable. Kudos to the chef for preparing & presenting all of the plates with thoughtfulness & expertise. The entire staff was professional, friendly and went above & beyond to accommodate our party's late night feast. Street parking is limited. Highly recommended.
