What People Are Saying

from Google & Yelp

"I happened to be in the Long Island City neighborhood and was looking for a place to have dinner. While checking Google, I came across this Mexican spot called Xochimilco. I’ve actually been to this city in Mexico before, so I thought I’d give it a try. The great star ratings were well deserved—this place is very authentic. I met Johnny, one of the staff members (possibly the owner), and he was incredibly friendly. I ordered the torta al pastor, and it was amazing. I travel a lot and visit Mexico often, and I can honestly say this is one of the best—if not the best—I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely be back and am looking forward to trying more items on the menu. I also had a jamaica drink, which was perfectly balanced—not too sweet, just right. Highly recommend!"

"I’ve been on a hunt for the best chilaquiles all over NYC, and honestly, most spots in Manhattan are way overrated. This place, though—absolutely amazing! The chilaquiles were so delicious, full of flavor and perfectly done. The customer service was just as impressive—everyone was super friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. Brooklyn spots never disappoint, and this one is definitely authentic. I’m sure I’ll be back very soon!"

"I stayed in the hotel nearby and came here twice during my 3 days stay with friends in NYC. Chilaquiles verdes were amazing, I highly recommend Cafe de Olla as well. The French toast was insanely delicious with lots of berries and bananas, definitely an unexpected good surprise. Plates are big enough to share. Thank you a lot for the amazing service, you made me feel home!!!"

"Disclaimer: I’m from Texas. A lot of people don’t realize Mexico or any country by region has different style foods. Being from Texas, I’m used to Tex-Mex (which is a whole thing on its own) Jalisco taquerias, I guess more northern Mexican food. This place reminds me of southern Mexico type food, like you’re visiting South America. Wasn’t for me, at least for breakfast. $18 for a burrito that’s half beans and rice. Not sure if it was the chorizo or the beans but something had a bit too much coriander in it. All I could taste before putting any sauce on it. They use Oaxaca cheese so you know that’s not adding any flavor to anything that’s seasoned up like that. Just not for me. Seems like the family is great and it’s not lacking service or anything for sure. Spot is chill. Just would want more egg or meat versus beans and rice for $18."

"I’ve been here twice now and definitely intend to keep coming back! The food is delicious, the staff are so nice , and the space is beautiful. I have enjoyed every single thing we got here. The tacos gobernador are stellar; the shrimp is perfectly cooked and the cheese pairs so well with the texture. I also LOVE the chilaquiles—so saucy and tangy and perfect with a side of eggs. Such a lovely, vibrant spot that I highly recommend checking out!"

"Came back for a pickup order. I had to call on Sunday to make an order for 4:45pm because they close at 5pm on Sundays and the apps weren't allowing orders..."
