from Google & Yelp"I have lived in Monroe basically my entire life and it has been a while since we had a café like Village hands. The service is phenomenal and personal. The food is well-made and delicious. There is a waitress named Taylor who goes above and beyond to make sure that your experience is always a great one. If you are ever in Monroe or driving through Monroe, please stop by the village hands ask for a cinnamon roll and their delicious brown sugar hot latte. I promise you will not be disappointed."
"This place is so cute and looks like my type of small town regular breakfast joint. I love the atmosphere and the servers are great. The lines and wait times have been pretty long every time I've come in though, even when it's not that busy, so I just try to accept that it's going to take a bit to get my order. The food is good but I think it's a tad pricey for what you get - I always wind up spending about $20 for a standard breakfast that would cost half that price at a diner. I don't mind paying for the atmosphere, or the small business overhead - I would rather, actually - but I think the finished product should match the price point a bit more. The coffee is also great."
"I really enjoy supporting small businesses and expect coffee shops to feel welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience here—on two separate visits. Both times, the barista came across as dismissive, rude, and noticeably unpleasant from the moment I walked in. During my most recent visit, I greeted her when I entered and was met with an abrupt “What can I get for you,” with no greeting in return. Her attitude seemed to worsen while preparing my order, which made the interaction uncomfortable from start to finish. This wasn’t a one-time issue. The first time I visited, I was with a friend who also noticed and agreed that the barista’s attitude was off-putting. Customer service matters, especially when paying premium prices (I spent $16 on coffee). I’ve been to many cafés, and unfortunately this one did not provide the welcoming experience you’d expect. I did ask to speak with the owner, but she was unavailable at the time. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as the overall experience could be greatly improved with better customer service."
"I was just passing through and decided to stop in, as I’ve worked in bagel shops for years and wanted to support a local spot over a commercial chain. I waited quite a while for a $14 croissant sandwich, and honestly, it didn’t live up to the price. I asked for eggs over medium, but they came out crunchy and fried hard. They used cheap sausage links cut in half that weren’t even fried on both sides. The food overall was not exactly what I would expect at this price point. Also, with the dining room mostly empty, the seated customers could hear everything the staff was saying behind the counter… something I dont think they realized. The group that was seated most definitely heard the sighs and remarks about their patronage. I get not wanting to be filmed while dropping hot plates but your annoyance shouldn’t be heard out on the dinning floor, it should stay in the back. The overall vibe didn’t match the “village” feel they’re aiming for, but everyone was hustling so they do show a dedication. If you’re going to charge artisan-level prices, both the food and hospitality need to reflect that standard. It’s got great potential, especially if a few things are worked on. Local spots are important, and I hope they have a successful future."
"We had wanted to visit this place for a long time after it was recommended by our friends. It took us 40 minutes to get here from Monsey. The atmosphere is very cozy, with lovely design, friendly staff, a clean restroom, and delicious desserts. Our large group of six managed to fit at one table, and they even had a high chair for the little one. The order was served very quickly! The only and biggest downside was the extreme cold. 🥶🥶🥶We left the car without our jackets, expecting to warm up in a cozy space, but we ended up having to go back to the car to get them. The food got cold within minutes, so we had to drink cold-hot chocolate and eat cold eggs. Our feet froze in our shoes, and we couldn’t wait to get back to the car and turn on the heater. We initially planned to stay longer, order extra desserts for the kids, and have coffee, but we were so chilled that we rushed back to the car just to warm up. Final thoughts: The check for two adults and four kids was $107 (pretty reasonable). I’ll give it five stars in the hope of returning in the summer to fully enjoy the outdoor seating and all its comforts."
"I came here with a friend and her infant to catch up on a Monday morning. We found the cafe to be quite charming, reasonably priced, and with generous..."
