What People Are Saying
from Google"We will not go back. We went at off hour for coffee and desert, which were perfectly adequate. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive (5 stars), but service from owners gets 1 star. You first enter into an attached patio (enclosed in November), which was filled with smokers. Owners said if we were bothered by smoke we should sit inside, and led us through a second door to the dining room. But this inner door was propped open the entire time we were there, and it turned out that at the other end, almost half of the dividing wall was completely open -- so there was no separation from the smokers. A while later, they brought hookahs to two people sitting *inside* the dining room, after which it really filled up with smoke, despite the dining room being almost empty. When the bill came, there was a 4.5% charge in addition to tax, labeled something like "NY Dual surcharge". I suspected this was a credit card surcharge, but when I asked the waitress for confirmation, she didn't know and had to ask the owners, who confirmed. However, the menu does not indicate anything about a two-tiered price structure (which is against NYS law), nor did the bill indicate that this extra charge only applied to credit card payment, so a visitor from out of town might reasonably assume that the charge applies to everyone. This is an embarrassment for a great city that welcomes visitors from all over the world."
"Went for breakfast in the morning. Got nutella fruit waffles and avacado toast. It was amazing!! Still craving it later in the day! 5 stars!"
"I had a deeply disappointing and uncomfortable visit to this café. When I asked a simple question—why I was being charged extra for paying in cash—I was met not only with rudeness but was also cussed out in Italian by the Cashier. The staff’s tone and attitude were completely unprofessional. I also want to highlight the questionable practice of charging extra for cash payments, which should be clearly disclosed if that’s their policy. They also did not bag my items, just left the plastic bag on the counter for me to bag it myself. If you're considering visiting, please do NOT, especially if you value respectful service and inclusive treatment. I rather stick with the good ole Narsico Bakeries on White Plains Road. They are a family owned bakery who sells baked goods for a reasonable price. The only downfall is that they close early."
"One of the worst restaurant/café experiences I’ve had. My friend and I ordered two different teas and a dessert, yet they repeatedly got her order wrong. when we sat down the waiter said “We don’t have Coke or Pepsi,” in a tone that came off as rude and judgmental. The service continued to go downhill. She was given room-temperature water for her tea, and when she asked for a replacement, the waiter simply handed her a cup of hot water instead of making a new tea. The atmosphere was also very unpleasant. There were smokers inside and outside, with hookah and cigarette smoke filling the space, making it uncomfortable to sit and enjoy anything. To make matters worse, I was overcharged when I paid with Apple Pay. Overall, between the poor service, uncomfortable environment, and billing issues, this place was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend it."
"We came during Ramadan for Sudzuk pizza and some more food. The music was so loud, my head start hurting. Also the smoke was so bad, it’s impossible to breathe. The smoking and non smoking areas are not separated at all. My hair and clothes smelled so bad. The service seemed ok, except the girl who was waiting on us. She came to take drinks order when we didn’t even sit and take our jackets off. And when we said we are not ready and want to look at the menu, she didn’t show up next at least 15 min, talking to the hostess at the door. The food was good, so we got used to the loud music and smoke - starting to have good time. After dinner we wanted to order desserts, but our waitress never showed up again, nor could we call anyone else. So my bf just went to the computer where another waitress was standing to ask for the check and paid. And we left."
