"Was excited to try this place since Beloveds Bakery was closed today. Came at 8:30am, so expected soft, warm and fresh pastries and baked goods. Ordered 3 things one was a cinnamon muffin and another was cinnamon roll twist. Cold, hard, stale. It took all my strength to even break the twist apart for my son, who couldn't even chew the hard bread. My muffin was hard and dense and lacked flavor. I expected light, airy, warm, buttery texture. The French crossiant was decent texture. The other stuff was in now way baked that day. Perhaps because they keep things sitting out on the counter instead of covered and sealed, but if it was baked same dag it should be soft at least. Or maybe it the dough recipe itself. I will say the coffee tasted delicious, but wouldn't go back again."

"i am by no means a bread expert, but i did not care for the taste or texture of the "sourdough focaccia"...tastes more like a wet dense cottage style wheat bread, very thick and heavy...when i think of the best focaccia, it is crispy on the outside and light and airy on the inside with a real hint of sourdough flavor...this bread had none of those qualities...the search continues. bakery seems like a nice place otherwise."

"They have expanded since I was last here. They still have great bread and baked goods. We had a cinnamon roll and a breakfast sandwich. It was a good amount to share for two. The biscuit was a little dry but everything else made up for it. It's always worth a trip here and the quiches look phenomenal. We have to come back for those"

"I came here for the 25 year celebration to try their cinnamon rolls for 25 cents. In addition to the cinnamon rolls, I purchased a hot matcha to sit and chat with a friend who had already been there waiting. Before I sat to eat my cinnamon roll, I asked an employee if they had an estimate of how many carbs were in their cinnamon rolls, as I am a type 1 diabetic. The woman I was originally speaking with said she could check some things and give me an estimate. Another employee chimed in and said “well it’s a cinnamon roll, it’s going to have carbs and sugar”. And I said “gee you think? I’m asking for an estimate so I can give myself a more accurate dose of insulin” and I said never mind since they wanted to be rude about it. The friend I was meeting mentioned my encounter in her review detailing her awful experience as well, and the owner replied with the above comment stating that a diabetic could never have a cinnamon roll. As a Type 1 diabetic, I asked about carb counts so I could safely calculate insulin for your cinnamon roll, not because I “could never have one.” Your comment about diabetics not being able to eat sugar isn’t just outdated, it’s discriminatory and uneducated. People with diabetes can enjoy any food with proper insulin management, which is exactly why asking for nutritional info matters. And honestly, that hard cinnamon roll wasn’t worth the 8 units of insulin it took to cover it. I hope next time, instead of making assumptions, you’ll choose education and empathy…both pair better with coffee than judgment. I can see in her other replies, the owner takes zero accountability and I'm not surprised after seeing her behavior in person."

"This was my experience at The House of Bread this past Saturday. What was supposed to be a fun meet up with friends turned into a mess as I was over charged and the owner refused to give me the correct refund. She justified it by throwing me a free cinnamon roll that I didn’t ask for and didn’t take the time to explain why I was treated in such a way besides that they were busy. I agreed they were busy which is why I waited patiently to speak with someone about my order in between rushes. When I came back up to the counter she looked at me and said “You again? What is it now?” I’ve never been treated with such unprofessional attitude from an owner before, usually I would have a chance to explain why I wanted a refund. After I had to justify that I did not want a free cinnamon roll she refunded me only $4 I left and let the rest of my hard cinnamon rolls to waste due to a horrible experience. Fast forward to 5 days after I leave my review on Yelp and she responded in a way that was so disrespectful towards me and my friend that was meeting me there. To say that diabetic shouldn’t eat cinnamon rolls because they are too sweet is very disrespectful. Although I know that there are other buisnessss who use their bread I can say that I cannot support this resturant due to the lack of quality customer care from their own owner. Good thing they are not the only coffee shop bakery in the area and I’ll be glad to share this experience with others so they won’t have to be disappointed and disrespected as I was. All I wanted was a nice morning to have coffee and meet with friends to support a local business but ended up having to ask why I was over charged and left with a sour taste along with the hardest cinnamon rolls I ever had. Update to respond to owners comment: it clearly states in the email from the sign up through Yelp that I was signing up for support the cause for the Children’s cancer foundation. When I look at your Facebook post about the 25 cent rolls it doesn’t mention a limit nor anything about the foundation so I apologize if I was confused on the responses you gave me. I still paid what I was billed for. I’m also an ongoing supporter and have donated in the past, not just the one time but with other events through Yelp. Next time I’ll just pay the people at the table than purchasing food from the restaurant if it is going to be such an ordeal."
