What People Are Saying
from Google"Stopped by to grab a bite to eat with my daughter. She got the firecracker burger which she liked. She said the taste was a bit off but who knows if it was a mixture of the toppings. I ordered the Asian stir fry with noodles vs brown rice and it was really good. I would have liked the noodles to have been cooked a bit more. Our waitress was really nice and she kept checking in on us. They have a great menu with many options. If I was in the area again, I wouldn't mind stopping by again. Atmosphere was nice, the booths looked comfy, the wooden chairs at the regular tables aren't comfortable but what wooden chairs are. 🤷🏻♀️"
"Really lovely lunch after a soak at the Carson Hot Springs. Fried Cheese Burger - with a great fried cheese skirt - with a half-pound turkey patty and excellent skin-on fries. They make their own ketchup, and I highly recommend it! The Cheesesteak was accompanied by all the veggies, which included mushrooms, and Thai slaw. Also had a mixed lemonade-iced tea, all homemade."
"This was my second visit to Sassafras and I definitely had the same experience. I was here 3 years ago and remembered so made a point to return if I was back in the area. There is definitely a strong local following- employees were greeting regulars by name as they entered. The food is fantastic- I ordered a chicken sandwich not realizing it was a HOT sauce and our server quickly saw and had a new sandwich made for me. My friend ordered a fantastic salad. Definitely give this restaurant a try - it’s great! Our server was so friendly and helpful! We felt welcomed!"
"The food was just what I was looking for. It was creative, well prepared, and nicely portioned. I was in town on business and had a really nice meal by myself one evening. I had a Fondue Steak over Fries with Steamed Veggies and it was heavenly! The steak was a perfect medium rare, the fondue sauce was subtle and delicious with a nice hint of some funky blue cheese, the fries were crisp enough to handle being smothered, and the veggies were a perfect compliment to help me feel like I didnt just eat a gut bomb. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere is great for large groups, or in my case a lone diner looking to hang out and eat a great meal. It was so good I took a client there for lunch the next day. The menu is diverse enough that you could probably eat there every week and not get tired of it. While I was there I witnessed young couples with kids, older couples enjoying their meal, big families, groups of friends and lone diners. It's just a cool spot with great food and fantastic service. I'll be back the next time I'm in the area."
"Sassafras describes itself as eclectic, but both the menu and decor feel confused rather than cohesive. I didn’t go in with high expectations given the 4.4 rating, and the food was mediocre—fine, but not memorable. House made ketchup was the consistency of marinara and tasted like it was mixed with vinaigrette (gross). Overall, the place didn’t stand and could benefit from a clearer concept and stronger execution."
