What People Are Saying

from Google & Yelp

"I drove 60 miles just to go to this store. For chile ristras. When I asked if they were fresh she assured me they were from this year's crop. No way. They didn't even make it to the car before the pods were falling off. They are at least 4 yrs old or more. I will not be using them as edibles and I pray the wind doesn't destroy them right away. They should be still moist and somewhat plump if fresh. However the store was beautiful and well stocked. Very nice store!"

"Small shop, but very cute. Cool products and trinkets"

"The owner is such a good guy, super friendly and helpful, no hard sell, just happy to answer questions about chile and cooking. I’m not too into shopping on vacations but that was one of the highlights of our trip"

"I liked this small shop and the man that was working there the day that I visited. I love hot sauces and he had a few that I had never seen. He helped me to pick out a few for my collection based on what I told him about my tastes. I bought the "Atomic City Verde" sauce among others. It is hot but not so much that it is hard to enjoy. The green, grassy notes of the immature pepper goes well with poultry and vegetables like cauliflower or strong onions. The store was small but well put together. It is a nice place for tourists and other visitors to shop but if I lived in Santa Fe I doubt that I would be a regular, it just doesn't have enough to choose from."

"I had high hopes for The Chile Shop while visiting Santa Fe and wanted to send my mother a hanging chile as a gift. When I stopped in, the owner mentioned they had just sold out but said I could place an order and it would ship out soon. I agreed and paid on the spot—however, I was never given any shipping confirmation or tracking information. Weeks went by with no delivery. When I finally called to follow up (nearly a month later), the owner questioned why I waited so long to reach out. I explained I lived in Rhode Island and didn’t want to be a bother, assuming there might be a shipping delay. He told me the package was marked as delivered and suggested I check with the neighbors. We had already done that—no one received it. Instead of offering a replacement or refund for the amount of $65.95, he said he’d “split it” with me if I wanted to re-order. I was confused—why would I pay again for something I never received? I let him know I’d be disputing the charge through my credit card, and he simply replied, “That’s your choice.” No tracking, no follow-up, no accountability. Overall, a very disappointing experience and not what I’d expect from a small business known for specialty gifts. I would not recommend ordering here!"

"Im not from New Mexico, we were just passing by and wanted to try some good food. reviews did not fail, this place was so good, portions are big and tasty...."
