from Google"We had a wonderful New Year’s Eve dinner. Beautiful dining room with classical guitar music and cozy fire. I had delicious lamb chops and veggies. Others had the posole, halibut, and filet and all were very happy. It was a special and memorable dinner for our family with incredible service, quality, and ambiance."
"To start, this restaurant has *exceptional* service. My wife accidentally dropped a knife, someone jumped to take it away and replace it. Water, drinks, dishes, anything and everything is attended to by all members of staff— bus staff, waiters, and manager— at the highest level. The food is quite good. Some of the pairings are strange to me- for example the wagyu steak came with an enchilada. Sure that’s very NM but not quite what people might expect. Lamb chops were sublime. Portions were good. The restaurant is intimate and cozy. Fireplace was burning wood (Dec visit) and everything was decorated nicely. I do wish they’d have salt and pepper on the tables. I realize that’s a no-no for high end restaurants but come on now, I’m an adult and maybe I like my food salty. Overall, definitely one of my top picks for downtown Santa Fe."
"I have literally never left a one star review. Typically, I think people who leave them are stuck-up and rude. However, given the number of 5 star reviews, and the fact I'm writing this review eating a delicious do-over dinner at another restaurant, I felt I needed to leave a warning for others so they don't throw away $100 on a dinner for 2 that was one of the worst dining experiences my wife and I have ever had. The service was perfectly fine, the server was nice and attentive and was very understanding when we sent the very very undercooked steak back. However, the food was incredibly disappointing. If you're looking for an enchilada, Smith's has a frozen food section I'd recommend before I recommended this enchilada. The steak we ordered, as I mentioned, was incredibly undercooked the first time, still undercooked the second. We decided it wasn't worth asking a second time and technically safe to eat so we just wolfed it down. Calamari had some nice green chili flavors, no huge complaints on that dish other than the small portion. As for the atmosphere, not as advertised in the pictures. Looked like a fun/upscale place with lights, ristras, the works. We walked in to no ristras, music that made us want to take a nap, and an empty restaurant on a Saturday night. I mentioned it further up but it was SO disappointing we made space to go somewhere else and eat a second dinner because that simply couldn't be our last meal in Santa Fe. Thankfully, the portions were small enough we didn't have to try too hard to make space for a second dinner. Stay away."
"El Rincon is a delicious northern New Mexican restaurant in the heart of downtown. We were lucky enough to sit next to the fire where our server Gabe took exceptional care of us. He was knowledgeable in Wine selections as well as sent in the correct direction with appetizers, entrées, and dinner We will definitely return!!"
"We just finished what was probably one of the best meals we've had in a very long time! I had the arugula, apple and goat cheese salad and a glass of the Albariño Grabazán, followed by the filet and finished with the Taos Cow cherry, Mexican chocolate and caramel ice cream. The service was excellent and the cafe's ambiance is warm, cosy and inviting; definitely El Rincon!"
