from Google"This place in downtown Albuquerque is a total vibe! This cozy hideaway with its black-and-white checkered walls, hums with lively chatter and exceptional service! The password entry adds a fun touch. The San Francisco Pisco punch was a revelation - perfectly blending spicy and fruity notes. For an unforgettable night, Founders is the place to be."
"We've been in so many times, love the bartenders and drinks. It's one of our go tos. The last time we tried to come it was a Monday night for my husband's birthday and was told by the doorman it would be a 10-15 minute wait. We gave our names and phone number. Totally fine with waiting. We have bought many unusual bottles of liquor in El Rey so we decided to see what was new to buy. We were rudely told to leave the store and wait outside in 20 degree weather. We waited for almost an hour outside as groups trickled out of the bar in total 12 people had left. I went back in to check our status on the list and was told there was still no room for us and to continue to wait outside. We ended up leaving. We'll try again but probably not any time soon. The extremely rude doorman can't last that long holding down a customer service job. The other group of 4 that was also told to wait outside were taken aback by the doorman's attitude and left as well."
"I don’t like to drink alcohol, but still wanted to experience the speakeasy. I wish I would’ve gotten the blonde bartenders name, but I asked her for a coffee and she didn’t question it or make it weird! She offered different flavors like coconut or hazelnut! I’m eternally grateful for her."
"Great little locals spot - tourists beware of the waitlist on busy nights. Got on the waitlist at 11:15pm and was told there were 12 groups in front of us. For a Saturday night in a tiny bar that seemed fair, so we waited nearby. Then it’s 12:30, so we call and are told there is 1 group in front of us. We wait outside and notice 2 groups get seated in front of us. They seem to know the bouncer, and get ushered in. Once we were reluctantly let in around 12:45, we get a drink, and shortly after hear the staff talking about us. Not exactly welcoming, and I wish that they simply told us there was no room for us that night."
"Brandon was the bartender on a Sunday evening when i visited. He was friendly & welcoming. He played the Beatles Anthology video, which was a nice touch. The music (EZ band) was awesome. The bar has a cozy nostalgic vibe. I recommend the Smoked Old Fashioned for bourbon fans. Glad to stop by before leaving ABQ."
