"I’m not sure if management has changed at the downtown location, but the experience there has taken a noticeable turn, and not for the better. I’ve had a few recent visits where my order was incorrect, but today crossed the line from inconvenience into something deeper: a complete lack of care. I ordered the Vampire Slayer sandwich with egg and extra bacon, no garlic aioli and no cheese. When I took my first bite, I immediately noticed garlic aioli on the sandwich. Assuming it was an honest mistake, I brought it back to the counter and explained the issue. The response I received was simply, “Oh, ok.” No apology. No acknowledgment. When the order was relayed to the employee who made it, she said out loud something to the effect of, “Ohhh you know I stared at the screen for the longest and I just don’t think it registered.” Mistakes happen. What defines a business is how those moments are handled. After waiting about five minutes, I received the remade sandwich, this time with only egg and cheese. When I pointed out that it was incorrect again, I was met with silence and a blank stare. Still no apology. At that point, I asked for a refund. The employee did not say anything and began tapping on the screen for a moment. After a short wait, she simply said it would take a little while to see the refund. At that point, in disbelief, I exited the store. I fully understand that I am one customer to a growing and successful business. Still, this one customer has supported Fluid for years, long before multiple locations existed. My wife and I made Fluid part of our weekly routine before we were married, continued that tradition into marriage, and now bring our kids, who genuinely look forward to their Midnight Moos. We’ve always chosen Fluid over chains not because the food couldn’t be replicated elsewhere, but because the experience couldn’t. That experience, the warmth, the personal touch, the feeling that you were supporting someone in your own community, used to be Fluid’s signature. Sadly, that’s what feels missing now at the downtown location. It’s disappointing, especially since it’s the most convenient spot for our family. We’ll likely continue visiting the other Valpo location when we want Fluid, but this final experience feels like a sign that it may be time to explore other local options and find a new weekly family staple. I truly hope ownership takes a moment to reflect on what made Fluid special in the first place, because it mattered deeply to customers like us."
"From me: LOVE this place!!! I make sure to swing by at least once every time I’m in town visiting family. Ethan, the owner, is fabulous and also shout out to Jordan who took such great care of us. The drinks are delicious and so creative (my favorites are the rotating matcha flavors) but what compelled me to write this review was trying their avocado toast for the first time today. Truly the best avocado toast I’ve ever had!! 10/10 recommend this place! From my dad: “ I love the vibe at Fluid!"
