"We worked with Carmela at Macri's Italian Bakery for our wedding cake and desserts and were so pleased with our experience. We live in the West Suburbs of Chicago and were looking for an authentic Italian bakery to cater the desserts for our wedding in Berrien Springs, MI. We were so excited when we came across Macri's! We visited in person multiple times and had WAY to much fun tasting everything. The cake turned out exactly how I envisioned and was a stunning centerpiece. And my Sicilian family approved of the cannolis on the wedding day, which says a lot! We were so happy to see everything get eaten up so quickly on the dessert display table (and were happy to have a few leftovers at the end of the night to enjoy!). "I stopped into this restaurant for a quick date with my wife and was greatly impressed with the food and service and timeliness of everything. My wife and I have been to Carmela's before, which is a sit-down restaurant in the same building. We have always liked that, but always walked through this restaurant to get to it and have been curious about this place for awhile. We will definitely come here again. We got a Margherita pizza and garlic bread. We will have to try their fresh made pasta at some point. Can't wait to come back!"
"I am a huge fan of carrot cake, and the one from Macri's Italian Bakery is without a doubt the best I have ever had. The cake itself was unbelievably moist and perfectly spiced, with a wonderful texture from the fresh carrots. But the cream cheese frosting is what truly puts it over the top! It's rich, creamy, and has the perfect balance of sweetness and tang without being overwhelming. Every bite was absolute perfection. This is now my go-to cake for every special occasion. If you're looking for an authentic, high-quality, and absolutely delicious carrot cake, look no further. Highly, highly recommended!"
"I hope the owner is reading this. I came here before, to Macris and Carmela's and we enjoy the food. The thing I hope you guys change is your food contamination. This is 2025 and we live in a society where LOT of people have allergies. We got some gelato and sorbet but when we said my boyfriend has a nut allergy, she said she can't promise any thing won't be contained. She did clean the spoon off and there was no problem with the sorbet but we didn't not take a chance with the gelato. Also how the spoon was in the nasty water was not safe even if he didn't have a nut allergy. I really think you should be more open to having option for people with allergies. You can just have all the nut gelatos on one side of the freezer and then all the non nut stuff on the other with separate utensils."
