What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"My first visit was this weekend, and I absolutely loved my flight. It was a 5 hour round trip, so I made a little road trip out of trying the coffee here and going to Slow Burn Books. The barista was very kind and made amazing drinks. When I couldn't finish the flight (big value, full sized cups), I was offered to go lids and a drink carrier. The atmosphere is amazing. It's so fun, and I could totally see doing a road trip with friends and stopping in with a much larger group."
"TL;DR: Cute place and ambiance, mediocre service and insanely overpriced. As a former resident of Garrett, I stop by to visit when I'm in town with my sister because this is the only coffee shop in town (and honestly Garrett is lucky to have a place like this.) The interior really epitomizes what a coffee shop in Garrett should be. It pays homage to the beautiful old downtown buildings that used to dominate this section of Randolph Street and has a cozy atmosphere. It's definitely a great place to get together and stay a while or stop by and study. However, there are a couple of major issues with the place. First, the warmth ends with the space- the people they hire don't give you the local coffee shop service you'd expect. I don't think I've ever been greeted by a barista or been thanked for my order. If you take a look at the reviews, this is a consistent complaint and the owner seems surprised by this feedback each time. And to add to that, the price for coffee here is outrageous. I live on the east coast and don't expect these prices. $5.27 for a cold brew that tastes more like hot coffee with ice cubes in it. I very much appreciate the effort that The Grind has put into making such a charming location. But I can't recommend at such high prices and certainly not with the poor service given."
"Bought goodies from Sugar + Ice. Amazing! Worth the drive for the pastries."
"This coffee shop is so cute and cozy. It has so much potential. The drinks are good and I don’t think they are horribly priced. The price point seems fair for the quality of drink. The options for food/drink are unique and I have never ordered anything that has not been in stock, which is a plus. However, the service on Sunday’s (which is the day I frequent the most) is not great. There is a young man who works Sundays and is pleasant. Aside from that, the employees can be quite rude. I have visited this coffee shop during the weekdays and there have been some more pleasant employees at those times. If you are going to check out this coffee shop, I would recommend doing so during the week. Aside from the service, the pricing is fair and the drinks are great. I am hoping for the best with the new location in the mall."
"My husbands and my first time visiting the Grind. My husband ordered the Strawberries & Cream Frappe, in which he said it’s so delicious. I ordered a Pumpkin Spiced Chai, yes it tastes like a chai, not like a lot pumpkin spice. Starbucks chai is so much better. The coffee shop is very spacious. You can enjoy your drink by the fireplace, play games and chit chat. The coffee shop shop was clean. Customer service was great. We will definitely return and bring our kiddos next time."
